SELECTMEN'S MEETING MINUTES
February 20,
2008
ATTENDANCE: Dale Chadbourne, Rita Sturtevant, Todd
McPhee, Daniel Skillin and Lloyd Coombs
a. The meeting was called to order at 5:15 PM. Glen Kirkpatrick was in attendance. He had spoken with the Board at a previous meeting and was looking for an answer from the Board as to what they were going to do. Todd read aloud, a letter from Interim Chief, Jake Kaiser to Glen. (letter attached to permanent minutes) It was a letter of suspension from the Woolwich Fire and Rescue. Dan made a motion and Todd seconded it, but after some discussion the motion and second were rescinded. A new motion was made, seconded that the letter of suspension was unjustified. The board approved the motion unanimously. It was then moved, seconded and unanimously approved to send a letter to the Interim Fire Chief, Jake Kaiser, from the Selectboard, instructing him to reinstate Glen Kirkpatrick to the Fire Dept based on the fact that the letter of suspension was unjustified.
At 5:25 PM, Dan made a motion to go into Executive Session for a personnel matter allowed under 1 MRSA ß405 (6)(a)). It was seconded and unanimously approved to go into executive session.
It was moved, seconded and unanimously approved to come out of executive session at 5:50 PM. No business was conducted. It was moved and seconded to reinstate Shane Plummer to the Woolwich Fire Dept, letting Jake consider what Shane will be able to do at a fire scene according to his (Shaneís) level of training.
Discussion ensued with Jake Kaiser, Shane Plummer and the Selectboard regarding the new fire truck. Jake was asked to provide the Selectboard with the spec book for the new truck.
Todd
McPhee, Selectman and member of Fire Chief Selection Committee, said the
committee wants to repost the Fire Chiefís job. The Administrator was instructed to re-advertise the Fire
Chiefís job and send a letter to each of the original applicants letting them
know that they would need to re-apply if still interested. The applications must be submitted to
the Administrator by 12:00 noon on Friday March 7, 2008.
